HEALTH EQUITY
DATA INDEX
The Kansas City Health Equity Data Index is an initiative of KC Health Collaborative designed to strengthen how our region understands and addresses health inequities. By bringing together data on health outcomes, healthcare utilization, demographics, and the social and economic conditions that shape health, the platform will help community leaders identify disparities, anticipate emerging challenges, and make more informed decisions about the future of health in Kansas City.
Health outcomes are shaped by more than healthcare alone. Access to quality care, stable housing, transportation, food security, and economic opportunity all influence the health of individuals and communities. Yet these factors are often examined in isolation, making it difficult to understand how they intersect or where targeted investments could have the greatest impact.
The platform aims to bridge that gap by connecting data across sectors and translating complex information into actionable insights. Through interactive data visualizations, trend analysis, and future-oriented modeling, the platform will help users explore questions such as:
-
Where are health disparities most pronounced across the Kansas City region?
-
How do social and economic conditions intersect with healthcare access and health outcomes?
-
Which communities may face increasing health challenges if current trends continue?
-
What opportunities exist to improve outcomes through targeted programs, policies, and investments?
-
How might different interventions influence future health outcomes and community needs?
The platform is designed to support a continuous process of learning, planning, and improvement.

By making relevant data and insights more accessible, KC Health Collaborative seeks to foster a shared understanding of the region's health challenges and opportunities. This common foundation can help organizations align priorities, direct resources where they are most needed, and collaborate on solutions that address the underlying conditions contributing to health inequities.
Data alone does not create change. Its value lies in how it informs decisions, strengthens partnerships, and supports meaningful action.
Through the Health Equity Data Index, KC Health Collaborative aims to help the region move from understanding existing disparities to anticipating future needs and evaluating opportunities to improve health outcomes. By connecting data, analytical insight, and collective action, the initiative will support a more proactive, coordinated, and equitable approach to building a healthier Kansas City.
